Aureliano needs to stop going to war because apparently he’s not winning any of them. He lost 32 battles.

Aureliano needs to stop sleeping with women because he already has 18 children. With seventeen virgins came seventeen Aurelianos.

Aureliano needs to make his decisions wiser. He became a liberal for no real reason other than that the conservatives were “tricky.” And then he went off to war!

Aureliano needs to not dress up as a lady and get caught. He was close to death.
Aureliano needs tot stop being depressed about everything. He's the one who decided that he needed to fight the war.
Aureliano needs to not hide or destroy his poetry. It was not destroyed until later, but maybe it had significance to his life before the war?
Aureliano needs to stop fighting only for his pride. His pride almost killed his best friend.
Aureliano needs to settle down instead of roaming the world looking for wars to fight in. He went to many different countries afterwards simply to look for a fight.
Aureliano needs to learn to love. Ursula found out later that because he had wailed inside her stomach, he had been unable to love since birth.

Aureliano
The first to have been born in Macondo, Aureliano was apparently "unable to love" from birth. He was crying in his mother's womb, so his eyes were open when he was born-- this signified that he was unable to love. As a child, however, he seems quite normal (to an extent); a pensive, artistic child. He takes after his father in that he likes the inventions and likes to understand how they work. I believe his solitude began to become prominent when he randomly decided to join the Liberals in the Civil War. He only fought to win, and he almost let his friend die because of it. After the wars, he confined himself to simply making goldfish and not thinking about the past at all. That was basically how he lived until he died.
Aureliano Jose
Falling in love with his aunt Amaranta at a young age, Aureliano Jose was put into solitude the moment he realized that it was wrong and he sent himself off to the barracks. There he tried to concentrate on military duties, joining his father in the quest of the Liberal party. He deserts the army after some time when Macondo becomes relatively peaceful again. He tries to convince Amaranta that it will be okay to marry and have children, but in fear of incest, she denies him. He is then killed by a conservative soldier during an uprising. His solitude is apparent the moment he and Amaranta realize they cannot be together. She was only searching for someone in her own solitude, and he loved her because she raised him. But because it is not right and they could end up with a child with a pig's tail, Amaranta keeps her distance, and he is left in solitude until his is killed.
Aureliano Segundo
Aureliano Segundo had a personality similar to the Arcadio boys in the family line, rather than the other Aurelianos. This is probably because it is guessed that their names were mixed up as children. He was the one to open the laboratory again and begin talking to Melquiades' ghost. As solitary as it was, he was still a very active person in the town: parties, girls, and he even had a concubine, Petra Cotes, while also having a wife, Fernanda. He became rich while he was with Petra Cotes, and they acquired many animals and money. When the rains started, that is when I think he became more solitary. He stayed inside the house with Fernanda, just fixing things, and reading Melquiades' ancient texts. From that point on, I believe his character changed. He didn't really do anything when Fernanda got angry at him for not doing anything for her, and he told Petra Cotes that he wouldn't go see her until the rains stopped, and the rain lasted for almost five years.
